3rd and 4th Grade Developmental Basketball Program Philosophy

The developmental basketball program's primary focus will be to teach the fundamental skills of the game of basketball, to develop a basic understanding of playing within the team concept, promote equitable playing opportunities for all members of the program and most importantly to emphasize a fun time for the young players learning the game. There will be no emphasis on winning and losing in this program. Through the season, each player will improve his/her basketball skills.

The team practices will be the focus of the majority of the development of the players; especially in the early part of the season. There will be approximately 10-12 games scheduled. The games are played with a running clock and there is no score kept. Other rules for the developmental age include using of smaller basketball (28.5 size) and foul shots taken at least one foot inside the regular foul line.

Little Dribblers League:

Our Little Dribblers program is designed for students in grades K-2, to develop fundamental basketball skills while learning teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Skills taught include passing, shooting, dribbling, and basic rules of the game.  This is a co-ed program that meets 1 day a week to work on the FUNdamentals and skills of basketball.

Players will develop their basketball skills, develop a joy for the sport, and become better people.  Students will participate in games and drills meant to be fun and to make them better dribblers, shooters, passers, and defenders, as well as more coordinated and more knowledgeable about basketball.  Values such as teamwork, hard work, and respect for others will be stressed at sessions.
