Please join me in congratulating our principal, Mrs. Kimberly Stevenson, the 2024 Diocese of Pittsburgh Golden Apple Principal Awardee. The Golden Apple Awards honor outstanding individuals, who teach or are an administrator of Catholic school. In addition to being a full-time teacher or administrator in their current position for at least three full years, the teacher or administrator must provide evidence of being committed to the students and school, possessing leadership qualities, serving the church and community, and being a role model as a Catholic educator. Each year, the Diocese of Pittsburgh honors six teachers and one administrator with the Golden Apple Award. Mrs. Stevenson has been our principal at John F. Kennedy Catholic School for the past five years. Prior to leading our school, she served as the principal at Holy Trinity Catholic School (now Archangel Gabriel School) for thirteen years and at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School for two years. In all, Mrs. Stevenson has dedicated her career with 40 years of service in the Diocese of Pittsburgh as a teacher for twenty years at Ave Maria Catholic School and twenty years as a principal. She leads our faith community by her daily interactions with the students as well as with the faculty and staff. Each school year, Mrs. Stevenson picks a theme to encourage school spirit and values among our students. This year's theme, Anchored in Faith, challenges the students and staff to be part of the "crew" for Jesus. Additionally, Mrs. Stevenson is actively involved in every facet of the school from tours and enrollment to curriculum and fundraising. She works tirelessly on building enrollment, forming parent committees, meeting with young and prospective families, and being present to our student body by attending sacraments, sporting events, and musical performances. We are honored to have Mrs. Stevenson join our two other Golden Apple Awardees at John F. Kennedy Catholic School. Mrs. Stevenson deserves her own "Sailor Shoutout" as this year's 2024 Diocese of Pittsburgh Golden Apple Principal Awardee. Congratulations Mrs. Stevenson!
