John F. Kennedy Catholic School is a community of faith where our students are supported by educators who are committed to fulfilling the teachings of Jesus Christ. Additionally, in our hallways and classrooms Christ is not an afterthought; He is the center of our school, the source and foundation of our existence. Thus, prayer is a normal part of our day so that our students learn to pray in times of sorrow and joy. The sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation mark the rhythm of our school’s life. The Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, religion class, recounting the lives of the saints, and celebrating the Church’s liturgical year are all ways John F. Kennedy Catholic School carries out its spiritual mission.
Implementation
At John F. Kennedy Catholic School, we strive to serve the Lord with joyful hearts. Parents are welcome to attend. Some of the many ways we celebrate our faith include: Mass - K-8th grade students attend all-school Mass every Friday and on Holy Days of Obligation. Adoration - On the first Friday of each month, our K-8th students take part in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Rosary is offered throughout the year as well. Stations of the Cross are offered during Lent. Community Service - our students take part in various service opportunities throughout the year. Beloved traditions such as the Thanksgiving and Lenten Food Drives, collections for the Washington Humane Society, and monetary donations and given to various organizations. Each month students who have a birthday decorate and fill a bag with toiletries and socks which is blessed and donated to the Washington County City Mission and other local charities. We encourage parents to let the children help pick out the items to donate and to discuss as a family how this helps people in our community.
